Sources, dates & coverage
Baker Hughes country totals are published monthly averages. The USA and Canada headline cards use the separate weekly census. Worldwide means the publisher’s covered markets; exclusions include Russia, the Caspian region, Iran, Sudan, Cuba, North Korea and onshore China. Saudi Arabia uses operating rigs from January 2024. Territories and offshore-only geographies retain their source labels.
Country circles represent aggregate totals at approximate map centres, not individual rig locations. Individual pins currently cover CAOEC’s published Canadian fleet and North Dakota DMR records. A rig’s reported position can lag its movement. Inactive rigs may show their last reported location. Missing coordinates are never guessed.
CAOEC status counts and regulator rig lists use different definitions from Baker Hughes and must not be substituted for its national totals. ND does not provide an observation date in this feed; its retrieval time is shown separately. Future destinations are tentative and are never plotted as current locations.
Failed refreshes retain the last saved, dated observations. Monthly source history and new weekly observations accumulate independently. No complete global individual-rig feed is claimed.
