The following original source/provenance documentation is retained.

SOUTHWEST MANITOBA GEOLOGY / HYDROCARBON POTENTIAL — DATA PACKAGE
Prepared27October2026

This package contains the derived regional model, all acquired current public well locations in the study domain, complete available horizontal plan traces, reservoir pool outlines, historical verified tops, source audits, source downloads and the build scripts. It is a regional research and visualization dataset. It does not estimate net pay, oil in place, recoverable reserves or commerciality.

COORDINATES AND COVERAGE
The numeric model grid, source well and pool coordinates and grid CSV use NAD83/UTM14N (EPSG:26914), metres. The GeoJSON exports use longitude and latitude (EPSG:4326). Vertical values are positive elevations in metres from the published model; historical well elevations use KB minus reported pick depth. The precise geodetic vertical datum realization is unspecified. The original provincial boundary clips the49–51.2N study window to Manitoba; the western border is not approximated by a straight meridian. Town-centre labels are approximate orientation aids.

DATA ORGANIZATION
sites/sw-manitoba/dist/data/model.json: shared2km grid,37 published source surfaces and separately labeled Lower Amaranth interpretation, boundary and1311 historical control wells. Arrays are row-major, index=row*nx+col. Gridnode x=x0+col*spacing, y=y0+row*spacing. Nulls mean unsupported/no-data; they are not zero thickness. units[].intervalDefinition gives the actual gross-thickness interval.
well_data.json: all11982 mapped provincial licence/surface records, including5562 source-classified horizontal wells. This is column packed: reconstruct each record from columns and rows, replacing dictionary-index values through dictionaries[field]. Fields not dictionaries are literal. sourceRecords is dictionary encoded as complete objects, not legacy pairs. The supplied decoder and Python script demonstrate this lossless representation.
pool_data.json:200 published source features with original identities and reservoir attributes, geometries and qualified correlations. Two Manson code conflicts are preserved; production joins are omitted there. Every outline is labeled generic Petroleum because the source does not supply an oil/gas type field.
pool_placements.json: footprint meshes clipped to valid regional grid triangles. Unsupported or partially unsupported footprints remain on a clearly identified reference plane; those are not subsurface elevations.
historical_tops.json: original selected source numeric values, reported depth picks and derived elevations. Original zero values remain in sourceValues but are not automatically converted to formation tops. Raw workbooks include regional controls beyond this study and do not imply every control lies in Manitoba.
unlocated_well_records.json:138 current weekly licences lacking a matching public GIS coordinate; retained as records, not arbitrarily geocoded.
data_validation.json, data_provenance.json and *_audit.json: retrieval, joins, exclusions, limitations and checksums.
exports/: compact CSV and WGS84 GeoJSON tables for other GIS software. grid CSV includes only nodes with a finite top or thickness; model.json retains the full null masks.

HISTORICAL CONTROL EXCEPTION
Licence2612, Chevron/Corex Hartney1-28-5-24, has a documented faulted and repeated section in its official technical file. The original TGI pick is retained, but the well is excluded from our additional single-valued Lower Amaranth interpolation. This exclusion does not assert that the pick is a typo. It recognizes a structural condition a single-valued regional surface cannot reconstruct. This does not identify the structure's cause or demonstrate oil accumulation.

WELL DEPTHS AND SURVEYS
Bulk GIS/weekly files do not contain TD or three-dimensional surveys. Two representative records have separately verified depths: licence9990 has reportedTVD614.6m andKB471.76m on its signed provincial stratigraphic sheet; conflicting LAS driller600m/logger590.3m values remain historical metadata. Licence2612 has reportedTD1575mMD andKB442m, with partial inclination checks but no ingested azimuth trajectory. Displayed vertical columns are explicit assumptions where full survey geometry is unavailable. The other11980 well depths remain unknown. All available map traces are included independently of TD. No deepest formation pick or log STOP value is substituted for TD.

PRODUCTION AND SAMPLES
Attached production totals are exact licence-level or unambiguous field-and-pool-code aggregates, not spatial allocations. The full production and physical sample catalogue downloads are separate deliverables. Catalogue entries describe available physical samples, not tested reservoir quality. Production is historical, not a reserve estimate; unmatched records are not zeros. The normalized2025 oil total differs from the headline provincial total by approximately0.64percent, disclosed in provenance.

REPRODUCING
Install Python3 with numpy, scipy, pandas, xlrd, shapely>=2.1 and pyproj. No proprietary modelling software is required. Preserve the archive directory structure. Run python mb-research/unpack_sources.py, then python mb-research/build_model.py, python mb-research/build_inventory.py and python mb-research/pack_wells.py. Run the supplied new-project build-pool-placements.py with the model/pool/crosswalk/output paths shown in rebuild.sh, then validate_data.py. The existing published surfaces are sampled within their original triangles; they are not refitted from scratch. Raw source files are dated snapshots and can change independently online. Acquisition scripts and SHA256 checksums allow provenance checking.

Important: The TGI ArcInfo MAP raster projection has a different central meridian from the GOCAD model and petroleum GIS. No map raster has been assumed to use EPSG:26914. This build uses the GOCAD surfaces and verified point database only.
